Partying Patong, Phuket

Wednesday, May 21st, 2008

Well I’ve decided to stay another night in Patong as the hotel I’m in is very impressive and I just love the bed. There is an event in the hotel tonite for the soccer finale with free beer for ~$10AUD, I’m not drinking thou :( Everything is good quality and the pillow, doonah and sheets are beautiful - yes, I know that sounded weird, but impressive stuff. I have never experienced similar and jumping into bed last night was a strangely impressive experience, nice and light on my ribs :D

Had a great night last night, I didn’t end up contacting Emma and just went out on my own. Played pool with an excellent girl that could really play, her husband was even better and we were about even I’d say. After that I headed into a seedy alley full of hookers and lady boys for another beer and ran into an older Aussie guy that used to own a surf shop in Sydney, originally from the Tweed and lives here now. Nice guy and the girls in the bar were really quite sweet and all very, very funny. One was a lady boy and I can tell you this ‘lady’ makes more money for the bar and keeps guys returning better than any of the others. Not hard to see why, he was gorgeous (lmao) and just a classic person - so much fun.

Bangkok girl and lady, can you tell which is which? If you can’t you’re going to have an interesting time if you want to come to Thailand as a farang sex tourist :P

This girl owned the bar and was a really nice person, so friendly, really smart and kind. She was telling us about how much business the ‘beautiful lady’ brings in, cool stories, very interesting.

Lady boys are really enmeshed into the Thai culture and earlier I sat up high on a balcony overlooking a Soi (street) filled with Thai’s drinking and partying with the Lady boys that were dancing on a little soapbox. Got some good video footage of Thai guys getting up, dancing with them and playing with their boobs. It was really, really funny, watching some Thai guys there with their girlfriends kissing and feeling up the lady boys to full cheers from the crowd, and just generally getting pissed on Singa.

One of the Lady Boys caught my eye (I wasn’t looking - honest :P) couldn’t leave me alone and I felt oh so lucky when I was signalled to meet him down the back of the Soi, I blew him a kiss and shook my head - not disappointed he was already onto the next, but nice try ;-) The lady boys do really well with non experienced farang just landed in Thailand and they love a fresh young face! Scary :P Some are tasteful, others just plain funny, but not really that sick or perverted - depends how you see it I guess.

I’ve got some, shall we say ‘interesting’ pics and you can judge for yourself. It’s really quite funny and I had a lot of fun teasing this one particular lady boy and he took it quite well. “No, Lady!” (spoken with extra, extra emphasis) was really funny! I offered to take some pics and shit look out - next thing he’s on the pool table pulling all sorts of poses! Total classic! Some of the video footage is gross, but funny too. Got some great pics, I’m sure Stuart (prob you too D$) will be jealous as he doesn’t mind a lady boy or two, or three (haha j/k)!

“No, Lady!”

Does this even require a caption?

Today I woke up late and went and had some chicken satay (they stuffed my red curry order), so went and had some Japanese - Unagi (eel nigiri), Asparagus and Enoki mushroom to keep the vitamins flowing. Feel great now :D I couldn’t help but go back for a lunch just now and had a sushi set, eel on rice and a nice cold ice tea - easily enough for two and loved every second.

I think I could get fat if I were still injured for too long, the foods just great. Easy tip for where to eat is look for where the wealthier Thai are eating, always a sure bet.

Thai culture is really interesting and you can easily see who has the money, who doesnt and who doesnt care. Almost everything has English and all street signs are English, you’d have to go fairly remote to not have Western toilets and someone that doesn’t speak a little English!

Ok that’s enough for now, I’ll post some pics tomorrow if I get a chance - I’m definately going to Krabi, but staying here tonite as the soccer final and state of origin are on. It’s good for me as I’m not exactly a night person so all the late events are at the right time for me :D

Take Care Y’all :D

From Patong to Krabi

Monday, May 19th, 2008

Decided I need to get some decent surrounds and a different feel, so I’ve decided to shift gears and enjoy a little luxury. Nothing too silly, just a little.

I’ve booked myself into a resort near the main shopping centre in Phuket, I plan to buy some random stuff, mostly for myself, but if I see something that might look like someone will buy accordingly. Tomorrow I’m going to get a Taxi to Krabi and book into a Traditional Thai style resort (Chawan Bay Resort, pictured right) for some more pampering :D

First resort is the Millennium Patong, so hopefully Emma answers her phone, but I won’t be suprised if she doesn’t and I’ll have to go get into some trouble on my lonesome.

Then I was thinking of changing to the Vogue Resort which looks very cool and has decent reviews, and checking that out, from there pick the best - or another and stay a few nights and do a tour out to the Islands. This should be the scenery below, made most famous by the movie, The Beach.

Leaving Phuket

Monday, May 19th, 2008

I’m finally very relaxed - lmao, not that I’ve been exactly stressed. I looked at all the video’s I’ve made last night and concluded I need to make more, they are quite descriptive and paint a good picture. I can tell I’m more relaxed as yesterday I managed to catch up all my work stuff (actually *felt* like it), and managed to register some fairly good .com.au and .com domain names, a little over $400 worth. God it’s nice to feel like working again, as when I’m motivated it’s really not work - I quite enjoy it. Good times :D

I’m going to give an old school friend a call, Emma Grant today and see what she’s up to and if she’s nice to me (she will be) I’m going to book myself in at a 5 star resort, either in Patong, or Kata for the night as I miss luxury. Not sure which one yet.

Failing that I will be headed to Krabi a day earlier. For those not in the know, Krabi is one of the most beautiful places in the world and Stuart thiks it’s the most beautiful, which are fairly strong words, but he’d probably know better than most as all he does is basically travel.

So what have I been doing lately? Well I done myself a mischeif and fell off my Honda Wave, no insurance and I could have sworn I’d broken a rib. Basically I slipped on a patch of blood (serious) changing down gears coming into a left hand corner and the back wheel flicked out to the right and I highsided the hadlebars left, landing on my left arm chicken wing style. Fucking hurt.

I noticed a parking attendant poke his head around the corner a little down the road, when I didn’t call out and got the bike back up and off the road he retreated. Assessing my wounds and with a bike that wouldn’t start as the left peg was jamming the bike in gear, I went down and talked to him. I showed him my cut up foot and he was onto the radio pronto.

In less than 5 minutes arrives a troop of Honda’s, 5 in total. Out came a sledge hammer and a medical kit, and while one guy swabbed my wounds with alcohol and betadine, the other guys repaired my bike. Took less than 10 minutes and they checked the entire bike over and I was off on the road again, albeit with suspected broken ribs.

After a fairly decent sleep, I think my body needed it, I awoke to find I could hardly move and thinking the worst I was none to happy with myself, nor the situation. I went to the Bangkok Hospital (it’s in Phuket Town) the next day and got some instant treatment. Straight into the xray theatre, then to the emergency dept for wound dressing, all by wheel chair. Initially the nurse (prettiest girl I’ve seen in Thailand and she was 31, personality to match) took my blood pressure and being the usual smart ass I am I asked how it was - it’s usually 100% perfect, but it was up quite high, I said to her - shock? She replied, no pain. I was really in a fair bit of pain at that stage, and apparantly I looked it too according to the English travelers that saw me before I left for the hospital.

Anyway after a small wait I was cleared of any break and given some anti-inflamaroties and a mild muscle relaxant to ease the torn muscle and cartlidge in my ribs. Perfect meds too as I can still fell the pain, but move a little easier. Not it’s been 4 days and I’m feeling a lot better.

The whole experience cost me around about 7000bht, which includes the 250bht for the bike mirror (nothing), 5000+ for xray, dressing and meds, 1200bht for return taxi to hospital. So about a $250 AUD lesson. Insurance policy is shit and didn’t cover me as I don’t have a motorbike license in Australia. But I will soon :D

Apart from recovering and getting some very special treatment from the local girls I cannot say I’ve done that much, I’ll post another update filling in the details soon though as a few funny anecdotes to share.

Ok I think that’s enough rambling for now, I better get this show on the road. I’ve some more pics to get up and vids as well, not sure how to do the vids, if anyone know’s please tell me best way to do that. I’ll probably do that when I get to Krabi.

Hope all’s well in your world people!!
